Dry skin, dull hair and an itchy scalp, even after switching products? Your tap water could be the reason.
In the UAE, tap water is safe to drink. But it carries chlorine and hard water minerals that can leave your hair and skin feeling dry. A shower filter is the quickest way to cut down on both.

Most of the UAE's drinking water starts as seawater. Plants clean it and add chlorine to keep it safe on its way to your home. Many areas also end up with moderately hard water, which means it has a lot of calcium and magnesium in it. Those are the minerals that leave white spots on shower doors. A water softener removes them before they reach your taps.
Your building matters too. Old pipes and rooftop tanks can add rust or metal traces to water after it leaves the treatment plant.
None of this makes the water unsafe to drink. But your skin and hair feel it every day.

Chlorine kills germs. That is good for drinking water. It is not so good for your shower.
Chlorine can strip the natural oils from your skin and hair. People with sensitive skin may notice dryness, tightness or itching after a shower. If you have eczema or psoriasis, chlorine may make your flare ups feel worse. Colored hair can also fade faster.

Hard water is the bigger problem for most people in Dubai.
The minerals mix with soap and shampoo and leave a thin film behind. This film stays on your skin and scalp. Your skin can feel dry and tight, and your hair can feel heavy, flat or straw-like. Some studies link hard water with drier skin and more eczema flare ups.
Hard water can also make hair brittle, so it snaps more easily. This can look like thinning hair. Most of the time it is breakage, not hair loss from the root.

Watch for these:
If you see two or three of these, your water is a likely cause.

Guessing does not help. Ask your building management for water reports, or get a free water consultation so you know what you are dealing with.
A shower filter cuts chlorine at the point where water hits your skin. It is cheap, easy to fit and takes only a few minutes. It will not soften hard water completely, but you will feel the difference.
If hard water is your main problem, a softener swaps hardness minerals out of the water. Soap rinses off more easily, skin feels softer, and scale stops building up on your taps and appliances.
A whole house filtration system cleans the water where it enters your home. That means better water in every shower, tap and washing machine. Many families pair it with a softener to cover both chlorine and hardness.

Hair and skin care starts with the water you wash with. The best shampoo cannot fix a problem that comes from the tap. Filtered and softened water can help your skin stay soft and your hair stay stronger.
